By the time your child gets to grade four, he would be gravitating towards certain friends. Your child would begin to make more prominent friendship choices. He would also start becoming more responsible and would begin to work in mush organized manner.
- Skills that are required during the 4th Grade: In the grade four teaching takes place a quite faster pace; this can be exciting as well as challenging for your child. The lessons would be mush longer then before. In addition, teachers will teach across the curriculum, using reading, writing and math to improve the lessons in other academic subjects.
- Reading Skills:
Your child must be able to read a newspaper or grade level book. Student must be able to differentiate between fiction and non-fiction. Integrating reading skills with science, social studies and math is also necessary. Student mush read aloud in order to improve the vocabulary, comprehension and fluency.
- Preparing a child for fourth grade writing and verbal communication:
Your child must in advance start learning cursive handwriting. Your child needs to know how to make notes from the references provided by the teacher. Your child must have the ability to do the longer assignments that may consist of three to five pages. Gradually the student would require using more advance vocabulary words. Student must know how would polish his assignment through revision; correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes.
- Preparing for Math: Child must practice long division with two digit numbers. He should also start working with fractions and decimals. Mothers should teach their children how to use the calculators. Make your child learn that there are always more then one ways of solving problem.
